Xi’an Shiyou University (XSYU) was founded in 1951, the first institute specialized in petroleum and petrochemical engineering, a unique university in northwest china characterized by petroleum and petro-chemistry.

The university has two campuses, the main campus stands at the High-tech Development Zone of Xi’an. XSYU covers an area of 364 acres. The total real property values at RMB 1.607 billion. The total instruments and equipments for teaching and experiment values at RMB 281 million. XSYU consists of 13 colleges and 4 departments. The university has 1,600 staff members, including 1000 full-time teachers.

XSYU is fully reinforced on scientific research. Since 2009, the university has undertaken more than 165 scientific research programs,including the “State 863 Programs”, the “State 973 Programs”, the State Natural and Science Fund Programs,the State Social Science Fund Programs, and other high-level scientific research programs. The total scientific research fund in the recent three years is over RMB 300 million. The university adheres to an open policy in active international exchanges and cooperation. XSYU had successively signed cooperation agreements with 39 universities and institutions in U.S.A., U.K., Russia, etc

XSYU enrolls international students all over the world. Presently, XSYU annually enrolls over 300 international students, covering undergraduates in Chinese-medium and English-medium, postgraduates in Chinese-medium, Chinese culture and language training program, short-term international students.

  • Language proficiency certificates: TOEFL≥80, IELTS≥ 6.0 or Duo-lingo English Test ≥ 90; or Medium of Introduction Certificate.
  • Applicants who completed their previous studies in an English-taught program in a non-English-speaking country must submit an official letter from their university stating that the language of instruction was English.”
