Taizhou University is a master’s degree granting institution established with the approval of the Ministry of Education, implementing a provincial and municipal co management and city based education system. Its educational origins can be traced back to 1907, and it was selected as a pilot demonstration school for applied construction in Zhejiang Province in 2019. In 2020, it was ranked among the top ten applied universities in China, and in 2021, it was approved as a master’s degree granting unit.

The University is divided into Jiaojiang and Linhai campus, with a total area of nearly 1720 acres and a building area of about 620000 square meters. The total value of teaching and research equipment is about 524 million yuan, and the collection of paper books is nearly 2.5 million. There are 4 directly affiliated hospitals, 5 affiliated schools (kindergartens), and 4 wholly-owned enterprises, with good educational conditions and beautiful campus scenery; There are 14 secondary colleges under its jurisdiction, with over 17000 full-time undergraduate and graduate students

The University adheres to the integrated construction of disciplinary and professional degree points, closely focusing on the development needs of regional advanced industrial clusters and strategic emerging industries. It has established a number of disciplinary and professional groups that interact and coexist with industrial clusters, such as pharmaceuticals and chemical engineering, materials construction, intelligent manufacturing, electrical information, and life and environmental protection. It has 17 master’s degree authorization points, 6 provincial-level first-class disciplines, and 6 disciplines have entered the top 1% of ESI global rankings. Ecology, chemical engineering and technology, and materials science and engineering have entered the “China High level Disciplines” sequence of the Research Alumni Association discipline ranking. The University adheres to the internationalization of education as the starting point, promotes open education, broadens the horizons of teachers and students, and jointly cultivates nursing master’s degree with California Baptist University, civil engineering professionals with New Mexico State University, and undergraduate students with universities in the United States, the United Kingdom, South Korea and other countries in the “2+2” and “3+1” models. It has recruited and trained more than 500 degree students from more than 50 countries, established friendly exchange relationships with more than 50 foreign universities, and has alumni all over the world. Many alumni have become doctoral supervisors, entrepreneurs and major leaders of various levels of party and government agencies, winning the reputation of “teacher cradle” and “Huangpu Military Academy” for cadres in Taizhou.
