About

Shaoxing University is a multidisciplinary institution approved by the Ministry of Education of China, with origins tracing back to Shankuai Primary Normal School founded in 1909—where renowned writer Lu Xun once served as principal. The university was officially formed in 1996 through the merger of Shaoxing Teachers’ College and other local institutions. It is located in Shaoxing, a city known for its rich cultural heritage, and now operates across four campuses with over 15,000 full-time students.

Shaoxing University offers 63 undergraduate programs across nine disciplines, along with seven academic and six professional master’s programs. It is recognized for its strong focus on applied education, innovation, and industry collaboration. Its engineering discipline ranks in the top 1% globally (ESI), and the university has received numerous national and provincial teaching awards.

The institution also boasts extensive research infrastructure, including key labs, innovation platforms, and partnerships such as the Zhejiang Technology Transfer Centre with Spain’s Technical University of Catalonia. Internationally, it collaborates with over 60 universities in 22 countries and hosts foreign students from more than 40 regions.

  • Research proposal (at least 3000 words in Chinese or English).
  • Two recommendation letters from professors or associate professors.

  • Language proficiency certificates: TOEFL≥80, IELTS≥ 6.0 or Duo-lingo English Test ≥ 90; or Medium of Introduction Certificate.
  • Applicants who completed their previous studies in an English-taught program in a non-English-speaking country must submit an official letter from their university stating that the language of instruction was English.”
