Henan University of Science and Technology (HAUST), located in Luoyang—a city renowned as the thousand-year ancient capital and the peony flower city—is a comprehensive university recognized for its strong foundation in engineering and the coordinated development of multiple disciplines. Originally founded in Beijing in 1952, the university relocated to Luoyang in 1956 and was later renamed Luoyang Institute of Technology (LIT). In 2002, with approval from the Ministry of Education, LIT merged with two other colleges to form HAUST. At its inauguration, Premier Li Keqiang, then Governor of Henan Province, emphasized HAUST’s critical role in advancing the province through science and education. Today, the university comprises 31 schools offering 25 doctoral programs, 156 postgraduate programs, and 97 undergraduate programs across 11 academic disciplines, including science, engineering, agronomy, medicine, economics, management, literature, law, history, art, and pedagogy. The university’s library spans 99,000 square meters and houses 3.64 million books and 180,000 periodicals in various languages. As one of the first universities in China qualified to enroll international students, HAUST actively fosters global collaboration and has established partnerships with over 200 universities and research institutions across more than 20 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, Japan, and Australia. In 2020, HAUST was ranked 98th among Chinese universities and 3rd in Henan Province by the Airuishen Alumni Network.
