About

Hainan Normal University is a university jointly established by the Hainan Provincial People’s Government and the Ministry of Education. It is a key university in Hainan Province and an important training base and scientific research base for outstanding teachers and senior professionals in Hainan Province.

Through the passage of time, this towering institution of higher learning has blossomed into a magnificent splendor. The university boasts a long history, with its roots traceable to the over 300-year-old Qiongtai Academy. It is the first public university in Hainan Province. It was officially founded in the autumn of 1949. In 1952, during the restructuring of higher education institutions, it was renamed Hainan Normal College. In 1986, Hainan Normal College was reinstated. In 1999, it merged with Hainan Education College to form the new Hainan Normal College. In 2003, it was granted master’s degree-awarding authority. In 2007, it was upgraded to Hainan Normal University. In 2013, it was granted doctoral degree-awarding authority. In 2014, the National University Science and Technology Park was established. In 2015, it became a university jointly established by the Hainan Provincial People’s Government and the Ministry of Education. In 2018, its School of Marxism became one of the first pilot units for the Ministry of Education’s “Three-dimensional Education” comprehensive reform. In 2019, it received approval to establish its first postdoctoral mobile station. In 2024, it was designated a National Key School of Marxism and a National Key Football Academy. Today, the school has two campuses, Longkunnan and Guilinyang, covering an area of about 3,100 acres, with 25 colleges and about 24,000 full-time students.

  • Language proficiency certificates: TOEFL≥80, IELTS≥ 6.0 or Duo-lingo English Test ≥ 90; or Medium of Introduction Certificate.

  • Applicants who completed their previous studies in an English-taught program in a non-English-speaking country must submit an official letter from their university stating that the language of instruction was English.”

  • Foreigner physical examination form. (usually issued within 6 months before the application submission date).

  • Non-criminal record report (usually issued within six months before the application submission date).

  • Bank statement (over 2500USD)

  • Proof of outstanding academic achievements, sports, art, cultural exchanges, public welfare activities, etc. (not mandatory).
